Our day at Summerkids (our program
for children entering K-6th grades) is divided into four “periods”--blocks of time that last from 45 minutes to an hour. At the beg
inning of each period, our counselors offer/announce a wide range of activities--from gardening to games, crafts to cooking, with theater, dance, hikes, fort building, nature lore and more.
Campers are given the opportunity to choose what they want to do. These activities may be repeated in subsequent “periods” if they are exceedingly popular, but there will also be new activities each period.
In a day, your camper may have as many as 50 or 60 different choices. Some activities, such as archery, swimming and hiking, are divided by age for safety reasons.
But the major portion of our activities allow for children of different ages to come together and enjoy each other’s company and enthusiasm.
Additionally, we have occasional themed days, e.g. Super Hero Day, Circus Day, Winter in July Day, Crazy Backwards Day (these change yearly). Theme days allow us to create activities, have performers visit, and do selected crafts and games following our theme. Certain major theme days such as Carnival (replete with booths, prizes, cotton candy etc.) are a “must” summer after summer. Check your calendar this summer for more information.
