Welcome to Summer Challenge!
Our program is tailored for 7th, 8th and 9th graders.
Like in our Summerkids program,
each day offers a mix of activities.
But Challenge activities are more sustained,
and, well, more challenging.
We do amazing, interesting crafts.
We hike, we climb, and we push the limits.
We spend time in the camp pool.
We also take several field trips to the beach (Challenge is the only Summerkids program that leaves our safe and secure campground.)
The Summer Challenge has a dedicated space on our campus,
complete with a Zip line. (It's rather fun!)
We have spaces for quieter activities, like Dungeons and Dragons here,
a covered gazebo where we do dissection lore (here) and lots of other cool activities,
and an outdoor space for all kids of games, many of which we invent.
The "Challengers," as we call our junior high campers,
always find time for dramatic play as well.
"Poseidon Adventure," our annual water war with the Summerkids 5th and 6th graders,
is a chance to come together as a team.
We have rock walls to conquer,
targets to hit,
and all kinds of things to race,
play, and imagine.
Challenge is a great way to experience...
all the fun of camp,
With a great group of counselors,
who are trained in how to make...
the junior high experience special.
We build things, make things...
and we seize all that camp has to offer.
The Summerkids day begins at "Campfire,"
and watch some CRAZY counselor skits.
for each of four periods.
and swimming in our spacious pool
But most activities are open to campers of all ages!
The mix of activities includes games, crafts,
or build a rocket pack,
like baseball or basketball,
There might be "Four Squares of Doom,"
cooking in our kitchen, using fresh ingredients
time on the playground,
and lunch after 2nd period.
where counselors entertain...
Then it's time for another round of activity choices!
maybe a chance to meet a wildlife friend,
dance in our lodge,
Then there are "special" days, like Carnival
and Pirate Day.
(You kind of have to be at camp to understand it.)
Summerkids is a place
and try new adventures
We have lots of fun at Summerkids!
where we sing songs,
Then it's time to pick activities!
Some camp favorites, like archery,
are offered for a specific age group.
Each period they have a wealth of choices.
traditional and unconventional sports and more.
or make hamma beads.
or something unconventional, like Frisbee Wars.
gathering harvest from our garden,
from our garden (tomatillo salsa with tortillas here),
and more outdoor games than you can imagine!
In between each of the four periods,
with games of their own.
There's hiking again,
gather an egg from a camp chicken,
race a Pinewood Derby car,
Enchanted Forest Faire,
(We sprinkle these throughout the summer.)
The #1 rule of camp is to have fun,
where campers make lifelong friendships.
all in a safe and secure environment
(Kids and counselors.)
Campers choose from about 20 choices ...
(Learn more about our pool here.)
(And each period's set of choices is different.)
Campers might choose to weave a bracelet,
They could choose a traditional sport,
(We're not even halfway through one period yet!)
We have snack after 1st period,
we gather at Campfire,
Sometimes we get campers in on the act!
float a cork boat in our creek,
or build a fort in our Nature Center.
the Counselor Wiffle Ball game,
We also have special camp games, like EPIC
and that's what we want.
It's an opportunity to create memories
that is rich in natural beauty.
We know you will, too!
